Cheryl-Ann Hills (Artist)

Cheryl-Ann Hills is contemporary visual artist born in Kitchener Ontario, currently living & working in Hamilton Ontario. She was elected to the membership of The Ontario Society of Artists, and the Colour and Form Society.

Cheryl participates in art festivals, exhibitions, plein air painting events and shows across Ontario. She enjoys the travel and meeting new art lovers in all corners of the province.

Her love for plein air work combines her two passions: nature discovery & observation and painting. Cheryl received an Artist Merit of Distinction award during the 2019 McMichael Plein Air Competition. In addition to managing her fine art and graphic design businesses, she created and organized weekly outings and events for her Hamilton Ontario Plein Air Artists group from 2019 to 2025. Cheryl also planned and organized two Plein Air Festivals, one in 2024 and the second in 2025, called the Hamilton Plein Air Festival.

Her influences include; Michelangelo, Georgia O’Keefe, Ken Danby, Alex Coville, Emily Carr and Lawren Harris and Theodor Geisel aka. Dr. Suess.

Created with a commitment to sustainability and authenticity Cheryl’s art practice minimizes environmental impact by adopting a solvent-free painting practice and reusing materials whenever possible. Her current favourite materials include walnut oil paints – created in an environmentally sustainable facility – water-based inks, conte and graphite on canvas, wood panels and paper.
