Van Gogh Sofa Construction
- Frames: 18mm Baltic Birch plywood, composed of 13 cross grain layers for superior durability and stability.
Furniture plywood naturally resists warping and cracking - Joinery: Interlocking joints, mortise and tenon connections, and strategically placed corner blocks.
Mortise and Tenon joints have been used for centuries by master craftspeople, and become stronger under stress rather than weaker - Under The Seats: Springs or Webbing (each model will specify which is used)
Springs: 8-gauge no sag sinuous springs (approx 3.26mm thick) run from front to back.
They're bridged together to create a network that distributes weight evenly across the entire seating surface for consistent, long lasting comfort.
The springs are attached to the wood frames using Teflon coated seat clips.
The Teflon coating reduces friction, and eliminates the annoying squeaks that could have developed over time.
Webbing: Italian "Total Comfort" webbing is interwoven from front to back, and side to side.
The webbing creates a trampoline like suspension, which provides superior weight distribution and support, with no pressure points. - Seat Firmness Options: Soft 2.3lb foam, medium 2.7lb foam, firm 2.7lb foam, or plush with a foam core surrounded by a blend of feather and polyester fibres
- Plush Details: the feather/fibre wrap is channeled to help maintain an even distribution of fill, and reduce fill movement.
- Back Fill Options: Polyester fibre, feather/fibre blend, solid foam
- About the Foam: Eternal Foam - A high performance, high resiliency foam designed to last.
Advanced airflow, and tight cell structure provide higher resiliency, and additional strength
This allows the foam to spring back to its original shape after being compressed, and reduces the likelihood of the foam collapsing over time.
Eternal foam is environmentally friendly; it's CertiPUR-US certified to be made without: ozone depleters, flame retardants, mercury, lead, any other heavy metals, and formaldehyde.
It's also low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds).
